- 250 g skyr substitute Greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp birch syrup maple syrup
- 2 tbsp hazelnuts roasted & roughly chopped
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch sea salt
Roast the Hazelnuts: Preheat a dry pan over medium heat and toast the hazelnuts for 3–5 minutes, shaking the pan occasionally, until fragrant. Let them cool slightly, then roughly chop.
Prepare the Skyr: In a bowl, mix skyr with vanilla extract (if using).
Assemble: Drizzle birch syrup over the skyr, then sprinkle with roasted hazelnuts and a small pinch of sea salt.
Serve Immediately and enjoy as a breakfast, snack, or light dessert.
- Why Birch Syrup? Birch syrup is made from birch tree sap, offering a complex, slightly smoky sweetness with a flavor profile between molasses and caramel. If unavailable, maple syrup or honey can be used.
- Other Toppings: Try adding toasted oats, fresh berries, or a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra texture and flavor.
- Make It More Indulgent: A dollop of whipped cream or mascarpone makes this a more decadent dessert.
- Skyr vs. Greek Yogurt: Skyr is thicker and higher in protein than most yogurts. If using Greek yogurt, choose a full-fat version for the best texture.
